Slaughter and butchering, done at your place or at the yard of the provider. Two flags on the card draw most of the questions: whether the cut is halal and whether a photo and video record is supplied. That record matters when an animal is taken for a fixed date and the owner cannot be present. Establish beforehand what the fee covers, because the bundle differs from one provider to the next: the kill itself, skinning, cutting into joints, removal of waste, packing. Comparing bare numbers without that is meaningless. The job and the payment are settled with the provider direct, and the site handles none of the money and vouches for no result.
What does the halal flag mean?
It is a statement by the provider that the cut follows Muslim rite. The site does not verify it, so if this matters to you, ask in the message thread who performs the cut and in what manner.
How much meat comes off a ram?
Dressing percentage, the carcass with internal fat as a share of liveweight, follows condition more than breed: well finished fat tailed rams reach 50 to 60 per cent, while woolled crosses drop to 35 to 45. On a 60 kg ram that is 21 to 36 kg.
Why ask for a photo and video record?
When an animal is bought for an occasion and the owner is at work, the record is the only way to see that it was yours and how the job was done. The card carries a separate flag for it.
At home or at the yard of the provider?
The format line says which: a trip out, or work on their own site. Home is easier when there is space and running water, and the yard suits you when there is nowhere to put the waste.
